Meanings of Morphological Categories on the Tectogrammatical Level
نویسنده
چکیده
The present paper focuses on representation of morphological meanings on the underlying syntactic level. The concept of semantic counterparts of morphological meanings, the so-called grammatemes, was introduced in Functional Generative Description in the 1960’s. We suggest an elaborated system of these grammatemes, which have become a part of the tectogrammatical level of the Prague Dependency Treebank.

Morphological Meanings in the Prague Dependency Treebank 2.0
In this paper we report our work on the system of grammatemes (mostly semantically-oriented counterparts of morphological categories such as number, degree of comparison, or tense), the concept of which was introduced in Functional Generative Description, and is now further elaborated in the context of Prague Dependency Treebank 2.0. We present also a new hierarchical typology of tectogrammatic...
متن کاملUsing Tectogrammatical Alignment in Phrase-Based Machine Translation
In this paper, we describe an experiment whose goal is to improve the quality of machine translation. Phrase-based machine translation, which is the state-of-the-art in the field of statistical machine translation, learns its phrase tables from large parallel corpora, which have to be aligned on the word level. The most common word-alignment tool is GIZA++. It is very universal and language ind...
متن کاملPrague Dependency Treebank: From analytic to tectogrammatical annotations
The Prague Dependency Treebank is conceived of as an annotated corpus of written Czech, comprising three layers of annotations. In the present paper, we focus on a more detailed description of the structure and contents of the tectogrammatical syntactic trees (underlying sentence representations) and a specification of the transition from the analytic syntactic tree to the tectogrammatical one....
متن کاملComplex Corpus Annotation: The Prague Dependency Treebank
The Prague Dependency Treebank (Hajič et al., 2001) is approaching the publication of its second version in which the tectogrammatical annotation is being added to the morphological and analytical (surface-syntactic) one. In this article, the Prague Dependency Treebank as a whole is being described, including its brief history. In this volume, there are three more papers with a detailed account...
متن کاملCzech-English Dependency-based Machine Translation
We present some preliminary results of a Czech-English translation system based on dependency trees. The fully automated process includes: morphological tagging, analytical and tectogrammatical parsing of Czech, tectogrammatical transfer based on lexical substitution using word-to-word translation dictionaries enhanced by the information from the English-Czech parallel corpus of WSJ, and a simp...
